Care & Storage
A few simple habits will keep your fragrance smelling as beautiful as the day you opened it.
Avoid Sunlight
UV light breaks down fragrance compounds. Keep bottles out of direct sun.
Keep It Cool
Heat alters scent. Store at a stable, cool room temperature.
Limit Humidity
Avoid bathrooms — moisture and temperature swings degrade fragrance.
Seal Tightly
Replace the cap firmly after each use to prevent evaporation and oxidation.
Where to Store Your Fragrance
The best home for your perfume is a cool, dark and dry place — a drawer, wardrobe or cupboard away from windows and radiators. While the bottle may look beautiful on a sunny dresser or bathroom shelf, both light and humidity are the enemies of a fragrance's longevity.
Keeping your fragrance in its original box offers excellent protection from light and is the simplest way to extend its life.
Protecting Scent Quality
- Minimise air exposure — every time a bottle is opened, a little air enters and slowly oxidises the oils. Close it promptly.
- Avoid temperature swings — repeated warming and cooling accelerates breakdown more than a stable warm temperature alone.
- Don't shake the bottle — there is no need to shake fragrance, and doing so introduces air.
- Keep it upright — store bottles standing up to protect the atomiser and prevent leaks.
Shelf Life Basics
Unopened and well stored, a fragrance can last for several years. Once opened, most eaux de parfum remain at their best for roughly 3 to 5 years, depending on their composition and how they are stored. Richer, base-heavy scents (woods, amber, oud) often age gracefully, while fresh citrus compositions are best enjoyed sooner.
Signs that a fragrance has turned include a noticeably altered or sour smell, or a significant change in colour. When in doubt, trust your nose.
A note on our bottles: keep the box — it is the cheapest and best protection your scent will get from light and heat. Diffuser and car diffuser oils are for external and household use only, never on skin. Questions? Visit Customer Support.
